Overview of the vehicle
The hottest kitty on the road has just gotten a little trick and Dak for 2018 when Jaguar unveiled the F-Type 2018 Coupe. Besides some lightweight style updates, the big news for 2018 is to add a new model, which is priced lower based and powered by a four-cylinder engine.
The changes are subtle but intended to help people distinguish different F-Type models. The new complete LED headlights are standard and changes to the bumpers and air intake are now different for each F-Type ornament. The rest of the design remains unchanged from the original (but outstanding) original design. The new R-Dynamic models and the limited edition 400 Sport complete the offer and rank fifth: F-Type, F-Type R-Dynamic, F-Type 400 Sport, V8 F-Type R and V-Tipp SVR. The 400 Sport will be a year-old model, with special inscriptions and painted dainty colors.
The interior has a new seen, but it does not change much in wise design. The bigger news is the lightweight aluminum-magnesium cast seat, available in sports or performance variants, with more aggressive performance models. Sport is standard on the F and R-Dynamic models, while the Sport 400, R and SVR models get the Performance models. The skin color Siena Tan, which was previously available in SVR, is now available throughout the range. The 400 Sport also has a unique interior with yellow accent stitching, 400 sports embroidered logo in headrests and multiple badges on steering wheel pads and curtains.
A new vehicle camera application called ReRun, developed in conjunction with GoPro, allows the driver to record the device with a GoPro camera on the hood and overlay the video with the vehicle performance data from the vehicle systems. Afterwards, the video can be uploaded to social media via a smartphone in the vehicle’s multimedia system so that drivers can share their experiences with friends. The concept is similar to the performance data recorder of Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro, but based on the camera’s own camera equipment, which is synchronized with the car instead of a camera in the mirror housing.
For 2018 Jaguar has also developed the multimedia standard of InControl Touch Pro for the F-Type line.
Under the hood
The most interesting news for the year 2018 is a new drive system: the 2.0-liter turbocharged Ingenium engine delivers 296 hp and the torque is 295 kg. The output is good enough to write F from zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, according to Jaguar, and exceeds the speed of 155 mph. Strangely, it is only available with an eight-speed automatic transmission – the manual is not available on four cylinders.
The other two engines – V-6 compressor 3.0-liter and 5.0-liter V-8 – remain unchanged, but the special version of the Sport 400 has a slightly stronger V-6 version. It is equipped with 400 hp instead of the 340 standard (380 in the R-Dynamic model).
